French wine paradox

Wine and Cancer

A study in a laboratory obesreved mice predisposed to develop tumors who have received a diet of solid extracts of red wine.

The result was amazing : the mice became cancerous later than normal and thus have seen their longevity increased compared to other mice.

We can explain this phenomenon by the presence in red wine of “polyphenols with antioxidant properties” in particular “catechin” protections that are also found in tea.

Wine and Alzheimer’s

In a French study conducted by Professor Jean-François Dartigues, it appeared that those who drank a quarter or half a liter of wine per day had higher intellectual faculties of those who do not drink.

The study was designed to keep medically for many years 4000 persons over 65 years. There was a decrease in frequency of senile dementia of the four-fifths and lower three-quarters of Alzheimer’s by compared to non-drinkers.

Wine and Myocardial

Myocardial infarction occurs when the heart muscle is deprived of oxygen-rich blood, the coronary arteries are so clogged and cholesterol appears to be primarily responsible. Several studies were made to show that the wine had beneficial effects on our health:

  • In 1786, the English physician Herbden noted that the wine eased the pain of his patients with angina pectoris.
  • In 1970, Dr. Arthur Klatsky made a study of over 100 000 people showing that moderate drinkers of wine had a lower risk of coronary heart disease deaths, and Dr. Rimm has subsequently proved that the risk of heart disease fell from 25 to 45% for those drinking 1-2 glasses of wine per day.

In conclusion, the wine in the blood cholesterol accelerates the purification.
